Before you hire a website designer, ask your self this simple question:
Do you want a fancy website that no one can find, or do you want a website that brings enquiries to your business via the search engines?
I design sites that bring enquiries...
I can almost be sure you got to my website by typing a term such as 'website designer' in to a search engine or some term very similar to this. I have been designing websites for many years, specifically to get them listed on the search engines and to quickly show the website visitor what products or services are on offer on the site.
If you have a website that is not optimised and easy to find on the major search engines, then you most likely have a website that is doing nothing for your business.
I am constantly researching and updating my knowledge about search engine rankings and if you ask any of my website design clients, I'm pretty sure they will tell you that I know how to get a site up to the top and how to do it very quickly.
I have facilites in place to help me quickly get websites found and ranked on the search engines. I also write the content of websites to make them much more attracrive to the search engines spiders (they read websites and rank them accordingly).
I have been writing computer code in some form since I was around 14 years old (22 years) and this genuine interest is what drives me to always strive to build and design better websites.
I design websites mostly using xHTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP. I do not feel the need to learn any other language simply because I work on websites alone so I do not need to collaborate with other website designers who use different languages.
I design website's using the following coding languages:
A combination of all of the above is needed for me to build a website although the MySQL, PHP and JQuery can be left out if I am designing a flat non dynamic website.
Normally a website designer will have some kind of reseller plan for hosting all their websites. Think of reselling as a pie that has no set amount of peices but is restricted in its size and you dont get to pick the filling. The more peices of the pie are sold the less there is to go round and so the more you sell the more every one has to struggle to get a good piece of the pie. Also the filling might not be to your taste but you have to eat it anyway because it is all you have on offer.
The integrity of this type of hosting is very erratic and unreliable. I do not use this type of service to host my clients websites simply because it would not be a service I would wish to have my own website hosted on. I need full control...
I have a private server which is housed in the Bluesquare Data Centre just outside Maidenhead in England. This is a LINUX server and is perfectly suited to the services I offer and the websites I design.
My server has been specifically designed to suit the coding laguages and facilities I use while designing a website. I have installed custom scripts to the back end of the server which allow me to develop my own tools and scripts to enhance the features I provide for my clients.
I own the whole pie and there is more than enough to go round plus I get to pick the filling according to the taste of the client.
I have full control over the server at all times and the server has a guaranteed up time of 100%. I also pay a company to monitor the server so if they see a problem with the server I know it will be fixed right there and then and that I will be informed about any changes that have been made or about any upgrades needed to keep the server secure and fully operational.
When I design a website, I also register a domain name for the client. The domain name comes with email accounts using the domain name address such as jim@yourdomain.co.uk
I have an unlimited amount of email accounts available so if you need more for employees, then that is not a problem. The domain name you select comes as part of your subscription fee so there is no need to worry about re-registering your own domain name because I deal with all registrations and renewals.
